Today the castle is one of the few facilities in Croatia with preserved its own constitution, historically closely related to the architectural framework and the life of its owners. After the castle we will visit Varaždin, the town famous for its cemetery established in 1773 and arranged by Herman Haller who created an outstanding example of landscape architecture. The feudal fortress named Old Town is also a must see. After Varaždin we will return to our hotel.

Day 3

After breakfast a licensed tourist guide will take you on a tour of Zagreb where you will visit Zagreb’s main square – Ban Jelačić Square named after our 19th century viceroy and national hero, Josip Jelačić Bužimski. The tour continues with the visit of Kaptol and Gradec, two historic settlements from which Zagreb, as a capital city, developed. On Kaptol, you will not only learn about the biggest Cathedral in Croatia and Croatian Catholic Church but you will also get a chance to discover our picturesque farmers’ market Dolac.

After crossing the border between the two hills, today the loveliest walking street in Zagreb, we will climb up to Gradec and enter the old city core through the only preserved medieval gate, the Stone Gate. In Gradec, you will get a chance to see the centre of Croatia’s political power, Parliament and Government buildings, as well as St. Mark’s Church with its famous coloured roof, the baroque church of St. Catharine’s and 13th century Lotrščak tower. In order to get to the final point of the tour, there is an option to use Zagreb’s Funicular, originally built in 1890, and known as the shortest funicular in Europe.

After the tour you will have some free time to spend according to your own wishes and then we will start toward Osijek where we will check in at our hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast we will visit the Kopački rit Nature Park, also called the European Amazon. It is situated in the central part of the Danube floodplain, between two important European rivers, the Drava and the Danube. It became a protected area in 1967 due to its values as a rare ecosystem, its rich biodiversity and important ecological values. In 2012, the Park was declared as part of the Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO. There you can watch to the enormous variety of birds, hire a bicycle, take a boat trip or go for a walk through educational paths, visit the Tikveš castle or try fishing. We will return to the hotel.

After breakfast we will visit Osijek accompanied by a licensed tourist guide. Osijek is the largest city of eastern Croatia. After Osijek we will continue toward Đakovo, the city famous for its cathedral and the State Stud Farm established in 1506. After Đakovo, we will depart toward Vinkovci where we will check in at our hotel.

Day 6

After breakfast we will start toward Ilok, the town which has wine cellars in almost every street. The most attractive one is the Old Cellars of Ilok. Ilok is especially famous for its traminac and silvanac, which were served at the English Court at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. On the way back to our hotel in Vinkovci we will visit Vukovar, the city we can rightfully call the Triumphant Doorway to Croatia.
